CHAPTER FIFTEEN. THE DISLODGED ENDOTRACHEAL TUBE.
Doctor Ravi Jayaram alleges that he “caught Lucy Letby in the act” of sitting and doing nothing while a baby’s endotracheal tube was dislodged, with the implication that she deliberately dislodged it. I will now provide comments and quotes regarding this allegation.
Here are some quotes from Private Eye Special Report. The Lessons of The Lucy Letby Case, by Doctor Phil Hammond. MD. (available online.)
Private Eye Report, part 4:- Medical experts have stated that the endotracheal tube can easily become accidentally dislodged, and is often incorrectly positioned in the first place. There were definitely instances of incorrect positioning of this tube on the unit. It was alleged that Lucy Letby was just standing by and doing nothing at the time. However, according to expert medical opinion, this is what you are supposed to do, in order to see if the problem corrects itself.
Private Eye Report, part 8:- Doctor Jayaram ALLEGED that this incident occurred. However, he did not report it for several months. Doctor Jayaram did an interview om ITV in which he insisted that the only possibility was that the tube was dislodged deliberately. However, a senior neonatologist has stated that it is not unusual for babies to dislodge their endotracheal tube. (My comment:- Either Doctor Jayaram is a deliberate, malicious liar, or he is misinformed.)
Private Eye Report, part 10:- Doctor Tariq Ali, a consultant neonatal anaesthetist commented on the dislodged endotracheal tube. He stated that there were a number of failures of insertion of this tube on the unit. He also stated that accidental dislodgement of the tube definitely can happen.
The following quotes are from the book Lucy is Innocent, by Paul Bamford, SECOND EDITION, ISBN number 9798326484130 (I strongly recommend this book.)
Pages 182 to 192:- Doctor Jayaram also alleged that (when he allegedly “caught Lucy Letby red-handed”) the alarm was turned off. However, Nurse Williams has stated that she HEARD this alarm. (My comment:- It seems that Doctor Jayaram’s memory is defective here, or perhaps this is a case of “wishful thinking” or “false memory syndrome”. The human mind is capable of an infinite degree of self-deception!) Furthermore, Doctor Jayaram asked “What happened, and who was in the room?” in relation to this incident. This suggests that he could NOT have “caught Lucy Letby red-handed” alone in the room with the baby.
Here is a quote from The Daily Telegraph, February 6th, 2025, page 4:- Neonatologist Doctor Shoo Lee stated that the breathing tube was never inserted correctly in the first place. He stated that “the consultant did not understand the basics of resuscitation”.
Here is a quote from the i (newspaper) February 6th, 2025, page 4:- Neonatologist Doctor Shoo Lee stated that there is actually no proof that the tube was even dislodged. It was probably in the right place. The consultant “didn’t know what he was doing”.
Here is a quote from The Daily Mail, February 5th, 2025, pages 8 to 9:- Amended door-swipe data showed that Lucy Letby was NOT alone with the baby (Baby K) at the time that Doctor Jayaram had specified. (My comment:- With each further quote, Doctor Jayaram’s testimony looks more and more “dodgy”!)
My comment:- Doctor Jayaram had to provide a personal apology to Lucy Letby for having her removed from the unit. She was threatening him with a complaint to The General Medical Council. He must have been very angry at this humiliation. Perhaps this feeling of humiliation helped to “jog his memory”, so that he was able to remember events that never actually happened!
