chapter sixteen

CHAPTER SIXTEEN. THE MISCONSTRUED DOOR SWIPE DATA.

Lucy Letby was purported to be “present” when a number of deaths or collapses of infants occurred on the unit. However, it is by no means certain that she WAS actually present at any specific time. The “door-swipe” data, which was supposed to record entries and exits of staff was (deliberately or “accidentally”) misconstrued by the prosecution in a manner so as to incriminate Lucy Letby.

QUESTION:- What is the wider significance of the “misconstrued” door-swipe data?

ANSWER:- It is simply one further example of the extreme incompetence and “sloppiness” of the investigation. Insane statistical “blunders”, “ludicrous” medical hypotheses and speculations masquerading as scientific fact, ridiculous “smear tactics”, absurd dramatic manoeuvres – they even dug up her garden (in search of exactly what – for goodness sake?!) – and now they can’t even get the simple matter of the “door-swipe” data correct! This is “key-stone cops” in spades!

Here are some quotes from various sources to verify that the “door-swipe data” was “misconstrued”.

Wrong Letby door data used for eight other babies

Evidence that mixed up when nurses were present on neonatal ward was used in relation to other infants.

Door-swipe evidence presented in the trial of Lucy Letby that showed staff coming in and out of the neonatal unit was reviewed for eight other babies following an error, it has emerged.

The Telegraph revealed in August that police had mixed up data in the case of Baby K, which showed nurses and doctors leaving the unit when they were coming in and vice versa.

The Guardian has discovered that a review by Cheshire Constabulary found that the door-swipe figures formed part of the evidence relating to eight other children.

The Thirlwall Inquiry heard last week that there was another door into the unit with a digital lock where members of staff from the paediatric unit could have entered without being recorded.

I found the following information on the internet:-  Google search term:- Error ridden Lucy Letby door-swipe data was used in cases of eight other babies LBC.

Error ridden Lucy Letby door-swipe data was used in cases of eight other babies.

Door-swipe evidence used to convict killer nurse Lucy Letby - and was later re-assessed by police after errors were discovered - was used in the cases of eight other babies, it has been revealed. The swipe evidence, which mixed up when nurses were present on Letby's neonatal ward at the Countess of Chester Hospital, was used by prosecutors during the trial.

Dr Murthy Saledi, a consultant working at the Countess of Chester Hospital at the time of the deaths, told the hearing that neonatal rota data alone was insufficient. He flagged that a second door into the paediatric unit existed.

Further Door Swipe Data comments from Times radio:-

Statistician Jane Hutton of The University of Warwick states that  The door swipe data was incorrect. The police thought nurses were leaving the unit when in fact they were returning. This means that Letby was NOT alone on some occasions when the police thought that she WAS alone with the babies. In other words, occasions when the police thought that she might have been alone with an opportunity to harm a baby, in fact she was NOT alone with the baby, and therefore did NOT have the opportunity to harm the baby. Here are some further door swipe comments from the internet:-

Due to an error, door swipe logs used by the prosecution had been inverted – literally the opposite of what happened. Another well-used door (seen here in the original unit in the video) used a keypad with no data record whatsoever. Put simply, staff, including Lucy, would not have been where the jury were told they were. (My highlighting.) To verify this, go to the following U-Tube video:-

Here are some quotes from Private Eye Special Report. The Lessons of The Lucy Letby Case, by Doctor Phil Hammond. MD. (available online.)

Private Eye Report, Part 3:- “The data expert misreading the swipe card data for the  - - - unit, meaning the spreadsheet used to convict Letby might not be accurate, and she might not have been alone during - - incidents.

Private Eye Report, Part 6:- “The jury - - - didn’t know that the swipe card data was wrong, and that Letby might not have been alone with babies when she was alleged to be”.

Private Eye Report, Part 7:- swipe card data - - - the prosecution - - - got it the wrong way round - - There was another point of entry - - - that used a keypad but left no data trace.

(My comment:- The door swipe data fiasco is just another screw-up in a total train-wreck of a trial!)
